Rights Respecting Schools Award

"The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK.

Unicef works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. Our Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens"

Rights Respecting at Baden Powell

We have been working hard through the school teaching and promoting the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Currently, our school council is responsible for leading this through the school and have helped produce a fantastic display which is informative and educational. It also gives examples of how the UNCRC is used in lessons to support learning.

Super Ambassadors

We also have two Super Ambassadors who are given three main jobs by the Child Commissioner for Wales, Sally Holland.

1. Tell pupils in the school about the job of the Child Commissioner for Wales

2. Tell pupils in the school about the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of the Child.

3. Complete termly missions and feedback to Sally about their outcomes.

The display at the top of the page helps inform other pupils. They have also, working closely with the ECO warriors, set up the Rags 2 Riches scheme, where clothes and uniform can be reused, instead of being wasted in the bin.
